Attachment Implication in the Treatment of Addiction & Trauma

Friday, September 29, 2017
8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Speaker: Jim Thomas, LMFT
Location: Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

This workshop integrates the growing body of research on attachment-based therapies, specifically Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) into work with three of the most pernicious, difficult presenting problems in couples (and individual) therapy. These issues show up at a higher frequency in our most difficult cases and with at-risk populations: The couple on the brink of divorce, the young adult in a drug treatment facility, or the adult client with multiple issues who has experienced one or more of these. The attachment lens provides a common thread to understand addiction, betrayal, and relational trauma in our work. It also suggests ways we need to show up as therapists to best help clients, couples, and families impacted by these issues. We explore the commonality between addiction, affairs, and relational trauma histories in couples therapy.

Please note that Integrative Approach will be covering the cost of CE credits for this event. Additionally, here is a link to a recent webcast Jim conducted: EFT Webinar. Lastly, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Coeur D’Alene Resort for those wanting to enjoy the area. September in north Idaho is a treasure to be enjoyed and shared.
